Geschichte

Ida Dalser (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), an ardent nationalist and early supporter of Benito Mussolini's political ideals, falls in love with him in the early 1910s. They marry secretly around 1914, and she gives birth to their son, Benito Albino. However, during World War I, Ida loses contact with Mussolini. Upon rediscovering him in a hospital, she finds that he has married Rachele Guidi (Mirandaфергi) and has another child with her. Ida's public declaration of her marriage to Mussolini leads to his disavowal of her and their son, who are subsequently committed to asylums by the Fascist party.

Zusammenfassung

Vincere (2009), directed by Marco Bellocchio, is a biographical drama that recounts the overlooked story of Ida Dalser, the secret first wife of Italian Fascist leader Benito Mussolini. The film explores Ida's passionate support for Mussolini's early political ideals and her subsequent descent into madness as she is betrayed by him. Set against the backdrop of early 20th-century Italy, Vincere delves into themes of power, manipulation, and the personal cost of political ambition.
