Joanne Whalley, born August 25, 1961 in Manchester, England, is an English actress who began her career in 1974. Known for her roles in television serials like 'Edge of Darkness' (1985) and 'The Singing Detective' (1986), she has also appeared in numerous feature films such as 'Dance with a Stranger' (1985), 'Willow' (1988), 'Scandal' (1989), 'The Secret Rapture' (1993), and 'Mother's Boys' (1994). After marrying Val Kilmer in 1988, she briefly used the credited name Joanne Whalley-Kilmer until their divorce in 1996. Whalley has been nominated for several awards, including a BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress and a Golden Nymph Award at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
