Story
In ancient France, Gaspard de Besse and his gang of highwaymen evade capture for years under the jurisdiction of Monsieur de Morières. After being severely injured due to treachery, Gaspard hides in St. Anne's convent where he encounters Anne, the young wife of Monsieur de Morières who was unwillingly arranged and unloving towards her husband. Gaspard makes a deal with the traitor to fake his demise. To carry on his criminal activities secretly, Gaspard recruits Antoine, a traveling actor whom he trains like his own son.
