Story
Therese and Isabelle, set in a Swiss girls' boarding school, follows Therese, a lonely 17-year-old who develops an intense friendship with Isabelle, an older, confident girl. The two quickly form a sexual relationship despite their age difference and lack of verbal bonding. Therese's mother abandons her due to remarriage, leaving her emotionally vulnerable. After their affair begins, Therese confesses her love for Isabelle, who reciprocates but later leaves the school without explanation. Therese discovers this abandonment one morning when she finds another student in Isabelle's place.
Summary
Therese and Isabelle (1968) is a French-German-Dutch-American erotic drama directed by Radley Metzger. The film explores the awakening sexuality of two young girls at an all-girls boarding school, focusing on their intense emotional bond and sexual relationship. It's notable for its slow, sensual portrayal of lesbianism between teenagers. Although the movie is not widely discussed today, it was considered controversial upon release due to its explicit content.
