Kathryn Atwood, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, began her career at seventeen when she moved to New York to model with Wilhelmina Agency. She later pursued academics, graduating with honors from Cornell University with an English degree, and studied creative writing under Frank Conroy at the Iowa Writers Workshop.
