Lígia de Paula was a prominent Brazilian actress, primarily recognized for her work during the golden era of the Boca do Lixo and Pornochanchada film genres. Born as Lígia de Paula Santos on April 20, 1947, in São Paulo, Brazil, she established herself as a versatile performer in domestic cinema throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
Her career was defined by her ability to blend dramatic presence with the era's demand for provocative storytelling. She gained significant international attention for her role as Angel in the 1982 cult classic Curral de Mulheres (widely known as Amazon Jail), directed by Oswaldo de Oliveira. Beyond the "Women in Prison" subgenre, she appeared in notable productions such as A Reencarnação do Sexo (1981) and Asa Branca: Um Sonho Brasileiro. After stepping away from the spotlight, she lived a more private life until her passing on May 27, 2018, in Sorocaba, São Paulo.
