Laura Maria Hänsel is a German actress and director, born in 1986 in Karlsruhe, Germany. She grew up in Heidelberg and trained at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Leipzig, graduating in 2010.
Her career began in theatre, where she performed at various city and state theaters, including the Theater Essen, Staatstheater Cottbus, and Theater Bielefeld. In 2012, she was nominated for Best Young Actress by the magazine Theater heute and received the Max Grünebaum Prize for her performance as Cassandra in The Oresteia at the Staatstheater Cottbus. Since the 2018/19 season, she has been a member of the Hans Otto Theater ensemble in Potsdam.
Beyond her stage work, Hänsel has appeared in numerous films and television productions, such as Doktor Ballouz (2021), Tatort, In aller Freundschaft – Die jungen Ärzte, Notruf Hafenkante, and Soko Wismar. She also directed the short film Traum, Taucher Zu Sein in 2014.
