Marja-Leena Kouki is a prominent Finnish actress born on April 28, 1945, in Pori, Finland. Her birth name is the same as her professional name today, though she was married to composer Toni Edelmann between 1967 and 1971. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the arts, she is the sister of actor Tapio Kouki and the aunt of actor-director Mikko Kouki. Her own career began in the mid-1960s after she studied at the Finnish Theater School, leading to significant roles in stage, film, and television. She gained widespread recognition for her performances in classic Finnish films such as Aatamin puvussa... ja vähän Eevankin (1971) and Suuri illusioni (1985), as well as her role as Anna in the series Sydän toivoa täynnä. Today, she is also well-known as the mother of the famous Finnish actor and singer Samuli Edelmann.
